The Ministry of Health, which funds support providers such as A Supported Life, survey and regulate the quality of support and outcomes for persons with an intellectual challenge, through audits related to the Health and Disability Sector Standards.
The Ministry of Health also contract auditors to assess the provision of service and quality outcomes for providers, against the contracts they have entered into with these providers.
Both of these audit forms provide a systematic approach to the delivery of services and allow services such as A Supported Life to review their activities in regard to the expectations and developmental objectives against the funding contract and other like services in the sector.
These contract based audits occur in cyclical periods of up to 3 years and focus not only on the organisation generally but also specific residences and individuals that ASL supports.
